High Zero Festival
I was invited to perform at the High Zero Festival in Baltimore, MD on two occasions, first to open the christening fest in 2000 and next in 2005 as a featured performer. A CD was released of my 2005 performances on Recorded, titled 'Palatially Palpable' and features collaboration with Samuel Burt, Rose Hammer Caleb Johnston, Phil Minton and Melissa Moore.
From a statement on their website:
"Our Method: As far as we can tell, we are a unique festival in North America. HIGH ZERO is focused solely on new collaborations in freely improvised experimental music. Internationally famous musicians play side by side with younger "unknowns," united by their commitment to the musical imagination. For four days in September each year, Baltimore becomes a fertile meeting-ground for a group of inspired players, drawn from a fascinating international subculture. The festival exposes large audiences to this radical music in its pure form. Each year, dedicated musicians and sound-artists come as individuals to participate in entirely new improvised collaborations."
Hungry March Band
A project that I helped found in 1997 with Dreiky Caprice, Tim Hoey, Gam, and Darius.
The Hungry March Band artical in the NY Times
While the band was still young, we were approached by Andy Newman from the NY Times and asked if we would mind if he came to our rehersals and follow us around the City for six week so that he could develop an artical about the HMB for the Times' Metro Section.
We said yes...
